My memory says Argent Silver. I will try to verify that.

I agree that the color is called Argent Silver.

Base coat/clear coat paint systems did not start to be used until the 80’s. Even then that was predominately on the vehicle itself. Wheels were still painted with one stage paints. In fact they were often painted directly with the topcoat on bare pre-treated metal.

Whels were always painted with an enamel based paint, that includes in the '30's, 40s,s, 50 ,60s and
'70s.

AGRE WITH GENE. AT THE ST LOUIS CORVETTE PLANT, WHEELS ARRIVED IN BLACK PAINT, FRONT AND REAR. THEN THE EXPOSED PORTION OF THE RIM WAS PAINTED IN ENAMEL, SAME AS EXTERIOR COLOR. . FOR INSTANCE , A 57 VET THAT WAS PAINTED EXTERIOR AZTEC COPPER, GOT COPPER SPRAYED ON THE FACE OF THE RIM, LEAVING THE BACKSIDE OF THE RIM BLACK. MIKE MCCAGH SORRY FOR CAPS, NOT GONNA RE-TYPE.
