I am in the process of re-wiring my 41 master deluxe. How does the headlight switch come out? How does the knob come of the switch?
The replacement I bought has a set screw on the knob but the one in the car does not. There is a threaded end on the pose of the new switch but the one in the car does not appear to have this.
I have found that having an old car is a constant project that is never done. I think that is a good thing. Keeps me learning new things. Having two from different eras is just a form of higher education.
Feel on the switch there is a little button on the bottom(as I recall) that when you pull the switch to the on position push the button in than pull knob out.a screwdriver than remove the fitting and the switch is out.

There's a small button on the bottom of the switch housing that you press to release the knob & shaft. Once they are out unscrew the ferrule using a large screwdriver. Do this in reverse order:

The above is correct. Only thing is that one must rotate the switch shaft in order to align its flat "side" with the catch. With pulling pressure and rotation it will then slide right out. That was poorly said but it's how the 41 works.
The video shows the know being a press fit. Is it best to just heat it in water and pull it off to get it off again? I would prefer to reuse the knob on the new switch.

The knob and shaft will plug into the new switch. What they are showing is how to install a repop knob on your existing shaft if your old knob is destroyed. As Denny pointed out above you remove your existing knob and shaft by pressing and holding the small button on the bottom of the switch and pulling the knob/shaft straight out of the switch.
