Picked up a 235 to replace my 216 in my 50 chevy. The "56 engine has the number "037I532F56Z" The 4th character is not a 1, it is clearly an I. I can not decipher it, Could someone help? this is the number stamped right behind the distributor. Thanks in advance... Jeff

F = Flint 56 = year Z=passenger car with standard transmission.

I could be wrong, but I believe Chevrolet used the I stamp in place of the 1 stamp at that point in time. So when you see the I in a string of numbers, it usually should be read as a 1.
