I am thinking of replacing the upholstery in the 1930 Chev Coach. How many yards do I need for the seats and panels? How many yards of headliner? Thanks Mike

Hello Mike1922, If I may advise, I would say that an automotive upholstery shop could tell you what you would need in material dimension. I would think that you could measure all of the visible area and add a percentage extra all around. That should get you into the ballpark. Keep all of your old material for templates and take photos of everything before/during the changeover.

I’m in the process of redoing some of the interior of a 30’ 4dr. Material is sold by the yard length and the width is usually stated. In other words I just purchased two yards of medium brown mohair that was 55” wide at a cost of $130 a yard. ( so I purchased 6’ long by 55”). You will need 3 yards of headliner material and I just found a good source of the correct napped cotton type material in a good assortment of colors. The price of the headliner is basically $130. I just got a price of $22 per yard (3 linear feet) of both 1/2” and 1/8 windlace used on the doors and used for piping on the seats. I needed a total of 27 yards for a total of $594! These amounts are just partial amounts needed. To do a complete interior interior is going to be a costly endeavor just in materials.

Thank you both for your replies. I will keep all the panels and headliner. The windlace price is a little shocking l would never have guessed 27 yards. The 3 yards for the headliner is good to know. I have been given a price of $129 a yard for the upholstery material which is right on with your pricing. Thanks Mike.

Hi Mike. I bought 10 yards of mohair at 54" width to make sure I had enough to do my 29 Sedan. I bought it from Hirsch in the US.
