Hello. I have a 35 Standard Coach and am doing the roof. All new wood ribs. I have the vinyl material. I need some info on materials to use for the "padding" over the chicken wire. I'm sure there have been posts about this but don't know how to search for them. I also have the original tack trim that is tacked into the roof to hold it down. Is there any special procedure to follow to do this? Any info or instruction would be greatly appreciated. TIA - Pete V
Pete, Your tack trim should be around the entire perimeter of your roof. I think it is in 2 pieces for my '35 Standard coupe. I don't know how many pieces you should have. I think there is a 1/4" stud (bolt) welded in each corner, on mine. Call me if you like.
Peter, I see the pieces you have post but it dosen't look like there is enough to do your Sedan. On my Coupe I made a special tool to secure the pieces and how to seal them. If you need more info feel free to contact me.
Yes those are just pics I had of a couple of the corner pieces. I do have the rest There are 2 long pieces that connect in the middle of the of the back of the opening and go about 3/4 of the way down the sides. There are 2 smaller pieces that join in the middle of the front of the opening and go around the corner and meet the longer pieces. I'm not sure if they are original or not. I had to heat and bend them a little to align with the holes in the roof. They are steel and the "nails" are welded on. I have the longer pieces to a 31 roof and they are aluminum and seem to be of a top and bottom piece construction. Yes I would like any help and info/advice you could give.
