Still looking for instructions on how to mount a 34-35 Standard Radio since there are no predrilled holes in the Firewall. Not the Head, just the Radio.

INSTRUCTIONS!!...WE DON"T NEED NO STINKIN INSTRUCTIONS.

Jon, I have a radio in my '35 Standard Coupe. I put it in without knowing exactly where it should be. My radio does not have the bracket in your pictures. It has two 1/4-20 studs. I think it should have a square of plywood behind it, but I didn't know that when I installed the it 40 years ago. The cable connections on my cabinet are on the passenger side so it is mounted above the steering column with the control head in the center of the car.
I need to pull the radio out for some repair and to install a better control head.

Mike

Like 35 Mike i installed a delco radio in my 36 Master. Held the radio in position with blocks of wood and cushions and drilled 2 holes. I left the carpet inplace and made the studs long enough to install a plate for a voltage regulator.Have the correct head and made up the running board antennas from strip aluminum and plastic insulators. Need to measure the capacitance of the antenna so i can match to the radio RF stage.

Your 36 Master had predrilled holes in the Firewall to mount the Radio, 34-35 Standards do not. I wish they did as I would already have it in.

Jon,
It turns out that I have some instructions for a radio install on '35 Master and Standard. They are for receiver # 601574. It is a firewall mounted box with remote head AND remote speaker.
The instructions say that Standard closed body cars have holes already punched (drivers side). My car has 3 holes the upper 2 are horizontal and the 3rd one is approximately below the inboard one of the top 2. Your car should have these holes, also.
I have copy of the instructions that I can mail to you. OR...I could have my bride, of 50 years, scan and email them to you. Call me if you want. My phone number and direct email are below.

Thanks Mike. My Firewall does not have any holes I don't remember filling any before I first painted it but that was about 50 years ago. I'll call you, thanks. Are the remote speakers like 35 Masters?

Jon,
The speaker is round with a single stud on the back for mounting. I will be out for dinner until about 8 PM Central time.

This came with the Radio which leads me to believe there were no holes in the Firewall from the factory.

If there are, I haven't found them. But I am supposed to be getting instructions on mounting the Radio so I'll see if this plate is mentioned. I'm still looking for someone who has an original 35 Standard that can tell me if there are predrilled holes in the Firewall. I would assume 34 Standards would be the same.

Be very careful not to drill through anything on the other side that is attached like metal plates with info on them!

Thanks. I've looked inside the car and I don't see anything that would be drilled into. I'm now trying to come up with a pattern for the "Chassis Spacer" it shows in the directions. I get the impression it is made of cardboard but I will make one out of plywood as soon as I can get the correct dimensions. I will need to "blow up" the picture I have to make it the correct size.

You might get better responses if you post in the Parts Wanted Forum.
