Can anyone tell me if the Roof Bow Trim stick is glued and screwed or just screwed? I appreciated any help.

My body service manual only mentions screwed. I highly recommend you purchase a reprint of the 1932 supplement to the 1926-1931 Fisher Body Service manual if you do not already have it. If you do have it the info is listed on page 11.

If a wood part is intended to be occasionally removed it will be only screwed or bolted. If part of the structure and not to be removed it will be screwed and glued. Be aware that the glue of the time was "hide" glue which with age crumbles and no longer holds parts together.

I have Fisher Body Service Manual 26 - 32, no reference is made to Roof Bow Trim stick. Page 34 speaks of it but doesn't say how it is secured and again on page 143 it says screwed to roof front rail with 10 or 12 screws. I'm just trying to be sure.

It never hurts to be doubly sure-or as the woodworkers say-measure twice and cut once. I found Chippers post very informative regarding parts that may need to be removed for servicing. I was not aware of the 26-32 manual but find that the supplement for 32 is handy in that it points out changes that are specific to the 32 only.

You have all been most helpful and I appreciate the input. I don't know if the roof bow trim stick ever has a reason to be removed (ie: adjustment or to access somewhere else). My book has a section specific to the 32.

Hello m006840, You posted- 'My body service manual only mentions screwed. I highly recommend you purchase a reprint of the 1932 supplement to the 1926-1931 Fisher Body Service manual if you do not already have it. If you do have it the info is listed on page 11.' From what you say, there appears to be a 'SUPPLEMENT'. A 1932 SUPPLEMENT to the 1926-1931 Fisher Body Service Manual. nhinchas says his book is the 1926-1932 Fisher Body Service Manual. The later edition appears not to have absorbed the earlier SUPPLEMENT.

Well without seeing both side by side it's hard to tell. Sometimes later is not always better however when I got my 32 repair manual dated Feb of 32 I learned that the August edition had much more info. While there may not be such a thing as having too much info when repairing these old cars there is a limit on the $$$ spent on literature.

where would I find a reprint of the 1932 supplement to the 1926-1931 Fisher Body Service manual? I looked at The Filling Station and Old Car manual project. I see the one I have (which has no date on the cover or the inside that I could find) but can't find a 32 supplement to the 26-31 service manual.

Also good to remember that the manual is for all Fisher made closed bodies and not just Chevrolet. It\ includes Pontiac-Oakland-Oldsmobile-Marquette-Viking-Buick-Lasalle and Cadillac.
