Howdy,

Not certain if I should post this here or somewhere else, but I am looking to find out what goes in the very right opening on my dash gauge cluster. I have 2 in the 2 trucks I have, but both were missing the right piece. I show the left opening to be for the lights, second from left is the choke cable and second from right is the throttle cable. What goes in the very right opening? My directions are as if facing the dash.

Thanks.

Hi Rusty

I have an operators manual for the 1935 truck and it shows the left as lights, the second as choke, the third as throttle, and the right as "accessory".
Maybe 1934 and 1935 are the same?
It gives no indication of what the "accessory" button is for.
Possibly it was used if a heater was installed, or a fog light, or whatever dealer or owner installed accessory it was needed for.
Maybe Mike knows for sure?

I think Ole is right. Several Chevy models of this period had a knob on the instrument panel that was labeled "ACCESSORY". There was never any suggested use for this location, that I know of.
All my '34/'35 truck stuff is gone so I have nothing to check. I'm 99% sure that Ole has solved the mystery.

That hole in my 35’s dash has a knob labeled “accessory”. Originally it had a heater as evident by firewall holes. On the back side of the far right knob there is what is left of a broken off switch but not enough to tell what kind of switch it was. Since the whole situation is well seized I have left it alone - it’s better than a hole folks would ask me about. Currently I can just tell them it is for the accessory 6 volt rocket launcher
