Howdy,

I have a manual for my 207 on the way, but can anyone in the meantime please advise me of what my gap should be for the spark plugs and my points in my 1935 207cid engine?

Kind regards.

Thanks Chev Nut. The original AC 46's are no longer available, so I went with AC R45's. I am not getting the "lube points rubbing block/distributor cam" though.

Would you happen to have any idea where I might be able to locate a fan/V belt for my engine? Can't seem to find anything online or at Napa.

Regards

NAPA should have them for sure. Try a different location if possible. I've had good luck at Carquest.

the points rubbing block/distributor cam refers to the fibre block the rubs on the distributor cam to open the points.

New points usually come with a tiny red capsule of grease to put on the rubbing block. You just put a little dollopup against one side of the rubbing block so that the grease tends to be pulled under the rubbing block as the distributor cam turns. Observe which way the distributor turns in order to decide which side of the rubbing block to put the little dollop of grease. Vaseline will work if they didn't give you the little red capsule. Or, tubes of the "correct" grease are also available. You could rub a little on the distributor cam too if it's dry.

Pictures below of points are generic (not 207 points) but show how you could pick a side to put the little drop of grease on, so that it gets drawn under as the cam turns.

Napa no longer carries them and neither does anyone else in town. Is using the R45's a bad idea?

Thanks for the education on using lube on the rubbing block. Pictures always help me a bunch.

The grease will always go on the edge of the rubbing block closest to the pivot point of the point set.
This is true because on every set of points I know of the cam moves across the block from the pivot side to the contact side.
Certainly on Chevrolets anyway.

I've been using a dab of regular #2 (thick) grease when none is supplied with the points... which is almost always. In my case I just use a lithium complex mutipurpose grease.
Some people used to use white Lubriplate.

In all cases I like to put a little grease on my finger and wipe it all the way around the cam to leave a very very light film to prevent corrosion on the areas that don't contact the block on the points.

Hope this helps. :-)

The filling station should have a fan belt and anything else you will need.

Would you happen to have a part number soldierboy? I did get one at The Filling Station that worked, but I had to completely take the generator off the bracket to make it work....it was too short. It could be that the bracket was modified though.
