I would like to hear from individuals who have sold a vintage car and what avenues did they use. Besides Hemmings, what other sources are available? I don't know anything about e-bay motors or any other online sources. Thanks

I sold a '62 Biscayne at Mecum in KC a few years ago. I got wholesale out of it. When selling at an auction like that one needs to realize most of the bidders are dealers. I could probably have gotten more out of it by taking a different route but it was quick and easy.

Listing in the VCCA magazine G&D has been successful for many folks. Listing on Chat might also be fruitful. I have searched Hemming's, Craig's List and the dealer sites by listing the make and year. Some of those will also take trades of that is a possibility. I have bought a few on the online auction site Ebay. Never used Bring a Trailer but seems to have a lot of vehicles listed. In the majority of cases have bought or sold to other VCCA members. Being a VCCA member for over 50 years I know hundreds of Chevy (GMC?) enthusiasts. I am asked several times per year if I know anyone selling a 19XX Chevy or they are looking for one and do I know of any available. Recently was aware of a '28 Sedan that a widow was selling. Matched that up to a member looking for a 4 cylinder so they could go on VCCA 4 cylinder Tours.
The bottom line is there are a multitude of possibilities for selling and buying.

I agree with Chipper. There are any number of paths to reach potential buyers.
Because you are a VCCA member I would definitely use that as a primary method. Post it for sale in Chat, let your members/friends know you are selling, and list it in the G&D.
I have had excellent results with Facebook Marketplace but those have been “newer” vehicles.
The major auctions have a lot of costs for both the seller and buyer. I enjoy attending them but would probably not sell at one of them. My estimate is that selling car for a $30k hammer price at Mecum, Russo & Steel, or Barrett-Jackson will cost you at least $5000.

This vehicle is a 1934 Chrysler so anything related the VCCA would not be fruitful or allowed. It was nicknamed the "Canadian Chevrolet" 45 years ago when it went on a local region's tour, but I don't think that qualifies it as a Chevrolet. I'll probably go the Hemmings and/or AACA web site route when the time comes closer to sell. Just looking for success stories and different ideas. Unfortunately, it does not have a 300hp engine, a drop top or flames on the side which seems to be selling now.

...Local Craigslist sometimes get buyers in, but have to weed all the SPAMMERs and SCAMMERs !! $5$ per ad
...Facebook Marketplace gets out to more people, seems to be the online place to buy & sell, but have to weed all the SPAMMERs and SCAMMERs not as bad a Craigslist FREE as a member

I'm selling a NON-GM vehicle I had my nephew list on marketplace ...hopefully sells in the next hour or two. He is an out of town man who seems mighty eager to buy the pickup and he doesn't speak good English. He is suppose to be bring cash. I have title in hand but he will not get it until I check the bills with the "magic marker" to make sure they are not fake...for sure.
Hmm, maybe he's eager because I have it priced to low????????
I'd list it in as many places as you feel comfortable. Just make sure when "closing the deal" all is good. If it "smells" just day no sale. If one person wants it.....there is bound to be someone else somewhere.

I'd meet him during banking hours and have the bank check the bills. If the bills are OK sign over the title and deposit the money.

I agree with Tiny's advice. I sold a pickup a few years ago for $12K and the guy brought cash.
As prearranged, I met him at my Credit Union and AFTER they made the deposit into my account, I signed the pink slip over to him in the bank's lobby.
We both felt safe and were happy with the outcome.

We have a Gulf Coast Region newsletter that we put mostly every month that has a for sale section, besides our region members I also send it out to every region director in Area 9.
