I've taken apart many hydraulic tappets but the ones in my 1951 chevy 235 engine are unique in that the parts are very small. Tiny little spring with about a 1/4" diameter plate. Since I've gone to this much trouble I would like to do what the directions say and that is to use10 weight oil when assembling. Problem is, no one has 10 weight oil. Would 10W30 work OK. What have you guys used.

Everyone has 10 weight. 10W30 is 10 weight oil with high temp additives. The lifters will end up with whatever oil you're using in your engine in them anyway. I use 15W40 so my lifters have 15W40 in them.

Or you could use 5W-30.
