Chevs of the 40s has what they call a "wiper kit". I don't remember whether it is 6 volts or 12 volts . I think there are some transmission parts included. I just purchased an electric wiper motor for my 38 Master from them, and it was described as 12V. It turns out that it can be used on either 6 or 12 volts.
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

When I was researching a 6v wiper motor for my 53 before finally deciding to switch to 12 volts I looked at Chevs and TFS. One said their motor would work on 6 or 12 but half speed on 6 and the other had different part numbers for each so I assume the 6v was actually a 6 volt motor. At this point I'm still vacuum but will probably make the change in the spring. The main thing holding me back is the knob looks nothing like the OEM wiper knob.

My family got a new '49 when I was in first grade and eventually learned to drive in it. Dad bought an accewwory vacuum pump that mounted on the firewall, with a switch that mounted on the bottom of the dash. It worked great and required no alteration of the original system. I've looked a little, but haven't seen a current sourcs. WL

I thought I saw those in TFS catalog, but if not check with Macs, Snyders, or Langs. Mike L. or someone put an electric wiper motor on my Landau Conv Sedan before it came to me. In my opinion these wood bodied cars should not be out in the rain, or even washed with a hose. The wood and sheet metal just won't last long. Bucket wash, or detail spray works just fine.
