Does anyone know a good source for 17 inch wheel trim rings. I would like them for my 1934 Master. Would prefer stainless.

The wheel trim rings for a 34 master are extremely hard to find. Last I knew there are no repros made that are correct. Best spot to look would be at a larger car show or swap meet. It took me over 5 years to finaly put a set together. Chuck

For 1935, the stainless rings for Master series cars are different from those for Standard series cars. I assume this would be true for 1934 also. The experience I had was '36 artillery wheel versus '35 Standard wire wheel. After the experience, I checked the catalog to learn they were different part numbers. The reproduction rings, that were available a few years ago, would not stay on my friend's '36 Master, The NOS GM rings I had would not fit on my '35 Standard. We traded and every one is happy. 17" rings are distinctive and easy to spot, but they are NOT all alike. Good Luck.

That was because the Master wheel is wider.

There is apparently a slight difference in the diameter of the wheel at the bead area. That is where the reproduction rings would not grip the '36 master wheel and the original GM rings could not be reasonable forced onto the '35 Standard wheel.

Gene, You could be right, But I tried a couple of times without success. I was afraid I would damage those beautiful NOS rings. I set them aside to do some research. My friend and I were talking and he mentioned that he had bought a set of reproduction rings and that they would not stay on his car. He would put them on and before he could get around the block, one or more would come off. The light came on in my head and I told him that I was unable to install the ones I had bought. We made a trade and the rings have stayed on both our cars since. After changing the color of my wheels, from a light yellow, to the correct Cream Medium, the darker color really makes the rings pop. Changing to black wall tires also created a better contrast.

Thanks for all of the input. I guess I'll go "Naked" for the time being.
