Hi, could somebody please tell me how to remove my 2 windshield cranks? is it a case of just
lever them off?

You do not state which year of car you are working on and that information would be very helpful. So I think you will have to elaborate a little more. Most early Chevrolets only had one windshield crank. 28 and earlier had a center screw that once removed - the handle would slip right off. That shaft is usually square. The 29 model was a more modern style that had a spring clip underneath. That shaft is splined. Carefully push the escutcheon against the windshield header and by using an ice pick or some other sharp utensil slide the spring clip out of its slot. Be careful the short windshield cranks are hard to find and expensive.
