Just bought a Custom 1957 Chevy truck. It doesn't have exterior mirrors and I want to put them on both sides for SAFETY. Does anyone have the exact placement / drawing of where the mirrors should be located. I purchased stock arms and mirrors.

Which mirrors doyou have - The original round ones or the extendable retangular ones?

If I remember right on my 57 half ton the 3 mirror holes had factory nuts mounted on the inside of the door skin. Might pay to remove the door panel and have a look inside.

Holes were welded up. I'm putting mirrors on both sides as well. Really don't want to remove inner door panels as they are custom. I don't think it's written down anywhere in any forum the exact location of the holes. I need someone to actually measure theirs and make a sketch.

I would be removing the inner panels as I dont consider "self taping" screws or bolds in sheet metal solid enough to hold reasonable sized mirrors, removing the panels may reveal the original mounting points. I would make a plate with captive nuts for the inside of the door as a reinforcement. Tony
