I’m looking for the washer that goes under the threaded cap the holds the gear shift in place, GM part # 4.029. For years I’ve had to periodically tighten the cap. A friend has an original Chev parts manual from the 30’s. I discovered there’s supposed to be a washer under the threaded cap to keep it from turning.
If anybody has one or knows a source, I would appreciate it. I couldn’t find one in the Filling Station’s catalog.

Have you ever tried old car junk yards? There are some still around.

I don't know about a washer under the cap, but I have the collar that is under it. it takes the slop out of the shift rod for better shifting.

carson told you this!!
