Hello my name is Kyle and I recently purchased a 1935 Chevy Master sedan. The car is original with the exception of a 12 volt conversion. I am getting ready to do a tune up and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for the best spark plug and plug gap for this application, as well as any other tune up specifications for one of these cars that has been converted to 12 volts...I do have a repair manual for the car, however I figured some of the information may no longer be applicable. I have owned and driven a few newer Chevys with 216's/235's and am in the process of restoring a 1936 Chevy pickup, however this is my first drive-able prewar Chevy so there's going to be a bit of a learning curve.

Welcome to Chatter.
I doubt the 12v conversion would make any difference and would be using the specifications in the manual.

An AC45 spark plug is good for most drivng conditions.
A properly 12 volt systm runs the ignition system on 7 volts due to the resistor used.

I concer with Gene and Tony. The 12 volt conversion will not change the spark plug requirement.

If the conversion does not have a drop down resistor in the ignition circuit be repaired to replace the points and coil frequently. In fact I would carry a spare of both. Plus a condenser.

Thank you for the quick responses, I guess I was just overthinking things as usual! The car does have a drop down resistor wired in. I'll pick up some Ac45 plugs today.

It would be AC R45 the 45's have not been made for years.
