Sorry for cross posting but need to do this ASAP.
Hi newbie here. Tried searching for this but came up empty. Just as the title says I need to remove steering column so I can remove the body of my 31. Time is crucial since the wood is infested with drywood termites and the wife is loosing it. I have the repair manual but again came up empty.
Body is braced and ready to have the wood removed steering is holding it back. HELP!

Yeah Unfortunately it’s just me, wife, and son, or even more likely, me an engine hoist and floor jacks with some a500 2x4. It needs to go 34” up to clear which is a big ask given what I’m working with. If the wife wasn’t threatening to call the scrap yard I’d just build a gantry crane but don’t have time. No place within an hour drive has any to rent and the one place that does (2.5hr drive) wants $600 for one day. So steering column needs to come out.

Remove the pitman arm and steering wheel then unbolt the gearbox and column and with the floorboard removed you should be able to take the assembly out from the inside of the car and probably from under if the car is on jack stands. With the floorboards out and the column disconnected from the dash it will rotate down as Cabboy suggested and youi will not have to raise it 34".

Mines riveted to the frame but a grinder will take care of that. Thank you for the reply.

They don't rivet to the frame better check and remove the arm and two bolts as mentioned in the other thread.

I caught that as well in your post. I’m better at metal finishing than the mechanical stuff. That’s why I’m deferring to you guys. Thank you for you replies everyone.
