Q: Was there a difference in stitch pattern/style between a factory 1936 Chevrolet Master Deluxe interior compared to the 1936 Chevrolet Standards?

Q: What color/color code did the 1936 Chevrolet dashboard come painted in from the factory?
(As I have seen most done the same shade as car and or different shades of brown.)

I am restoring my 1936 Chevrolet Standard 4 Door Sedan to its Original Black Paint w/Brown Interior and need help finding information on the Dashboard Color used as well is any information on the interior style used on the 1936 Chevrolet Standard and the Original Shades of Brown used for my vehicle.

Any pictures or info would be appreciated,

My dash was brown, and the seats are original. Let's see what experts say as my dash was repainted. I don't know about the Master. I think the trim in the standard was brown and the master was grey. My original heater was not repainted and it was brown. I am not any authority on the subject.

The brown on my heater is very dark like dark chocolate. The mohair was medium tan but old, so maybe it has faded or darkened over time. I think we need to wait for an expert to chime in

The Master upholstery material was a tannish gray color. The Standard had a cheaper Herringbone pattern tan mohair. Neither were ever reproduced for replacement.

generally the Master ownerws used what was available which was a lighter tan mohair. The original generally changed color after so many yeats.
The Master dash was a metallic gray with the gove box door and arear around the dials a gray wood grain.....colors were not bright in either.
Dash colors were available in pre mixed only and no formulas were available.

I'll try to find the paint can for the brown dash in my car, it is a dark brown metallic and may be the original color. This car was bought out of a junk yard in 1965 and the paints were bought around that time by the fellow I got it from. The can of engine paint I got with it was labeled correctly, so maybe the dash paint was correct also.

Ok, I found the paint can and it may or may not be correct for a 1936 Standard, but is the color on my dash. It is the same as on my heater that was still factory finished. It is DuPont Centari labeled 5279A GM DK BROWN MET. take this as you may.

Chev Nut: Thanks for the reply appreciated, I have read an article matching the info given regarding the Master Deluxe model dashboard using the Grey colors as mentioned under 35/36 Chevrolet Service News.

I cannot seem to find any info referring to my vehicle wich is actually the 1936 Chevrolet Standard.

As far as your reply mentioning Dash Colors being available then pre mixed, would you by any chance know the colors of brown that were used?

My vehicle has allready been painted to match its originally painted Black Color, now I am in search of the original Brown shade of paint correct for my vehicle dashboard so I can continue with my build.

J.Franklin: Thanks again for the continued help and going out of your way to locate the paint you received while originally buying your vehicle, Appreciated.

I will look up the DuPont Centari 5279A GM DK BROWN MET. & see what info I come up with as far as paint being correct for my Year and Model.

I have researched the info given for DuPont paint code 5279A

Results showing: DuPont paint code 5279A is a Deep Chestnut being for 1972 GM/Buick Vehicles.

Any other information to help continue my restoration would be appreciated.

I am confused. Do you have a Master or Standard?
