I have a '37 1/2 t GC original truck. One year ago I swapped out the original 216 and installed a '55 235. Every thing is working great. My question is what can I do to get a little higher gearing. It has a 3 speed tranny and stock 4:11 rear end.
Looking for suggestions on what can be done to get a little higher gearing. Is there a different trans. with higher gearing that I could install? Swapping out the rear end sounds like a big job. Thank you

hi Honk1e,

If you do a google search on "swap 1937 truck 4.11 rear" you will get lots of posts like this one.

1937 Truck Rear Gear

You can get a 3.55 rear gear with some effort. It is not the bolt-in swap that many people have done for 1940 and later Chevy's.

I know of one Chat member who has a 3.73 rear end from a Master (GB) car for sale. I do not know how easily that could be adapted to a GC truck.
