Do anyone know what the spec is for the taper at the end of the rear axles? Having some hubs made and cannot for sure determine what the taper is. Any help would be appreciated.

I have not really ever measured it but assumed it was a standard morse taper. I think that is a total of 15 degrees between the 2 sides. If you have a drill press mandrel set it on there and see if it is close. That would make the centerlines of the axle and the mandrel parallel. Let us know what you find.

I had originally thought a #4 Morse taper was what it was but have concluded that is wrong. It’s close but not right. Presently investigating a “1 in 16” taper for marine shafts. This is looking to be the possible answer.

That would actually make more sense because while it can be removed with heat it is a more solid connection. I was a commercial fisherman in a former proffession many years ago. We would occaisionally have to pull the wheel off the tail shaft for repair.
