I need to replace the starter and solenoid on my 1950 Chevy Styleline Delux Coup with Powerglide. Do I have to mark anything before removing it so that it all goes back exactly as taken out?
Thanks
Mel

If the 50 is the same as my 53 everything pretty much only fits one way if you're staying 6 volt. I recently converted my 53 to 12 volts and faced some challenges with fitting the solenoid.

I know this sounds crazy but I do still try to keep things in the order of disassembly so I put them back in the same place.

I do agree with Tony that the parts you are working on are not very sensitive to that.

I do take some pictures to remind me where the wires are routed, the orientation of connectors, and the stack up of washers and nuts.

Thanks guys. I've never replaced a starter so I wasn't sure if I had to mark things so that they went back exactly in the same places.

You might have to bend a wrench or buy a starter wrench for the top bolt. It can be a real pain.
