We are pleased to announce that some of the digitized 35mm films from the Ardie Overby Collection have now been uploaded. There will be more in the weeks to follow. The pages to look at are:
https://vintagechevyheritage.org/ardie-overby-35mm-films
https://vintagechevyheritage.org/1930s-leader-films-series
The Chevrolet Leader News films are interesting and cover life in America during the 1930s.

interesting set of videos. The wood spoked wheels stood up well on the proving ground.

You should be able to click on these links, shown above, then on the image of the film you choose.

I just clicked on the link in the original posting and it went to the site. One of the funny parts was the 29 video shows a 30 engine, and says it has 50 hp. The 29 only had 46 hp. In the background you can hear someone talking about doing 70 miles an hour which would probably have one of these engines at its rated rpm of 2600. In that proving ground video they are really pushing the envelope, but that is what the drivers were paid to do.

Somewhere I found some information saying they designed the 29 to have a top speed of 65 miles an hour. I also found a testimonial letter to Chevrolet from a doctor who said he drove his 29 from Florida to California, often at 65 miles an hour. Must have been an important trip on some not so good roads.

I have added many films in the past two days. I have renamed some of the pages, so the
https://vintagechevyheritage.org/ardie-overby-35mm-films
link might not work. I suggest you start with the home page:
https://vintagechevyheritage.org/
and then choose among the many pages of film strips, films (videos), and other content.
Please note that some of the later films (videos) do not have descriptions and that is because I just have not had time to watch all the films, or to listen to the sound tracks. If you see a film (video) where you can write a better description, please send it to me and I will consider adding it/correcting that description.
