Any Ideas for a temporary air cleaner for a Carter RJH-08 150S carburetor?

This is in my '29 Sedan with a '30 194 engine. I had a motorcycle air filter for my Tillotson carburetor but the configuration of the Carter is a little different with the opening and cable bracket.

It looks like I can rig an insert sleeve with another thin motorcycle air filter but I was just curious if anyone has tried anything different.

Bob - I had to do something similar for my '31, using a K&N clamp on filter. Drilled two holes through the rubber flange for the choke and throttle bracket to align with the holes on the carb throat. Works for now. Good luck!

Thanks guys.

I will try to come up with something. One day I would like the cleaner similar to what Bearsfan showed.

I have always wondered about a stock air filter for my 29. I use a lawn mower style, modified. Guess they just had a "BIG BUG" strainer.

On my 31 I used an edelbrock 94 Series Carburetor air filter and modified it to fit. It required that I cut off a part of one side towards the engine. That allowed it to fit with little effort. Painted it black and it looks like the original. A quick look and you don't notice it. Easy to get filters for it.

If it isn't broken, fiddle with it anyway so you have something to repair.

The 1929, 30 and 31 air cleaners are all fidderent. 1929 and 1930 used a centrifical (centrifugal?) action to clean partivles out of the air and 1931 was the first year for the brass mesh inside. Here are pictures of 1929 and 1930 I have.
