Good evening all,

I am searching for a set of valves to replace the original on a 28 head, without spending $200 on a set. I have read that Olds 455 exhaust valves will work, but i believe the head needs to be reamed out for those, as the specs are 1.625 head diameter, 4.693 OAL, and 0.342 stem. The valves in my head are OAL 5.250 and too long, as the rockers are at a steep angle. Egge specs the replacements at 1.656, 0.310, and Hagen's specs OEM as 4.5" OAL.

Is there a better option for replacement without machine work? If not, so be it, but what would be a good replacement? I found a 65-72 Ford Industrial 170ci intake valve that has the correct 1.656 head diameter, and .310 stem diameter, but an OAL of 4.264". Will this work acceptably?

Next question is what spring to use? TFS original spec? I fear modern springs will be too stiff, as my old cam is smoked and had modern progressive springs in it.

I did not find any useful results in the search, and it only brings up 200 results, is that normal?

I'd appreciate any input or if anyone has a spare set of valves and springs for a reasonable cost I'd love to chat.

Thanks!
Connor

I have a complete 28 head assembly you can have. Off a block that had freeze cracks so no warranty. Have a 4 wheel brake 28 frame as well. Case of beer lol
