My 283 engine is a 1960 in a 57 Chevy. Got a polished aluminum radiator and finned polished valve covers. After market power steering & Brakes. I've been told this would be considered enough changes to count as one modification.
My interior appears stock. If I put a Corvette 60's style steering wheel on it, would that make the interior qualify? It's got after market radio & two rear speakers.
My exterior appears stock. If I put 14 inch 1964 Impala hub caps on it, would that make the exterior qualify?

If these changes were done, would I be able to get judged in the Custom class...somewhere.

I actually got about 15 changes to this 1957 Bel Air that don't count!

Has the 283 been rebuilt to a higher HP and can you document the upgrades? If so you should be able to qualify in PCC Sleeper Class.

The 85 yr old past owner sent me all the paperwork he ever had on the car. In it is a receipt for engine rebuild; $9,800.00. He did say it was a 1960 283 engine. It has polished aluminum valve covers, polished aluminum radiator, alternator, late model power steering and power brakes. The transistor ignition went bad so I had it replaced with the same. Engine is very powerful. With the 350 transmission it is fast! Looking at the Vin number, the car was originally a 6 cylinder.

Here's a great overview of the Personal Modifications Chapter's thoughts on judging: Getting a modified car judged
