Looking to rebuild my differential. Is there a company out there that sells spider gears and a differential bearing set? My ring and pinion appear to be OK. Also need rear axle wheel bearings. Thanks Dan

Hello DanPryor,
I do not know if there are any companies out there that have complete sets to rebuild a 1931 Chevy differential. You more than likely will have to acquire the parts you need individually, I just don't know for sure. Besides speaking with suppliers like 'The Filling Station', check with Gary Wallace ( earlychevyparts.com ). He lists differential bearings. No clue as to the spider gears being available other than finding a used differential for parts maybe, but the part suppliers should be able to help guide you. Give them a call. Good luck.

Thanks for the response! I might have to go with a used differential to get some parts. I know i can get most new replacement bearings from the filling station. i"ll also check with Gary Wallace. Thanks again Harry!

One other person to check with would be Bruce Bugay, whose email address is bwbugay@aol.com. He's in Virginia and has lots of parts.

All the Best, Chip

If you have a good bearing house near you, let them measure your bearing and cross reference the New Departure bearings. I recently purchased new, top quality axle bearings locally for a 30' that cost me $36 ea. That's half the price being asked from most antique parts houses. I'm not knocking anyone or their business but costs add up quickly and I look for the best prices for the best products. Often, I find them locally and don't pay any shipping plus it helps out the local business.
