Has anybody had any luck repairing/ having repaired wire wheels with missing and bent spokes? I also have a nice one that some knucklehead drove with the lug nuts loose so five of the six hub bolt holes are enlarged.

I am also putting a want ad in below.

Thanks

Dave

Just a thought but if they used lug nuts from a 28 that would cause that kind of damage too. Some people don't notice the difference between the two.

Art,

That is interesting. How do they differ or does someone have a photo of them side by side?

On that rim I was thinking if I could find someone to build back the holes with weld and then machine new holes and seats it might work but I am guessing.

Thanks

The 28 lug nuts are flat on their mating surface because they are tensioned against a 1/4" thick retainer plate. The 29 and later use the modern tapered type mating surface that bolts directly against the rim.

That makes sense, thanks.

Anyone have any ideas on repairing wire wheel hub bolt holes or spokes?

These 29 wires seem to be hard to find.

thanks

Dave
