My wife and I just bought a 55 and I am having trouble figuring out the model or any other information through the serial id plate. The serial number is 102 8P Y6178 Can anyone help me to identify anything? I looked up the service manual information but nothing matched up. Thank you!

There is a site called oldgmctrucks.com where you will probably find the most accurate info on your truck. They speak only GMC.
Good luck.

Start here old gmc spec then to here old gmc site You have to register to get in but they know what they are talking about. If you had a 30's something GMC I may have been of some help but this new fanggled stuff confuses me!
