Still dealing with things what were misplaced lost or just not addressed or done by previous owner.
Question ..... I notice a slot in the trunk handle of my 50 Styleline and figure there must be a woodruff key that fits in that slot.
(The key unit may not keep turning the way its bolted to the trunk but then again, maybe it could)
Does the slot/groove get a keyway?? Yes or No....and if the answer is yet, it the key short or as long as it'll take?
Thanks

Any chance you could post a picture of this slot? Is it on the part of the handle assembly that is on the exterior of the trunk lid?

Gene, thanks for confirming what I thought. Its always nice to get a second opinion.

kaygee, I'm not where I can take a picture right now but yes, it has s slot in the handle and the piece the key goes in also has a small slot to. At first glance you would think it keeps the key assembly from turning. However, the long key assembly goes through the handle and has a bolt on the end where its tightened up once the key assembly is in place.

In other words, install the trunk handle and once its in place stick the key assembly through the handle and the end will go through a hole in the trunk lid and then you put a nut on it and tighten it up.

Look at the end of the key assembly and you can see that it can't rotate once inside the actual latch assembly.

(I'll try to get a pic this weekend.)

Kaygee, sorry to be so late posting this picture for you. This is a pic of my old handle without the key cover......
.....here is slot grove but gets no woofruff key.. The key "stem" that goes thru the handle also has a matching slot. Probably has to do with casting the parts ect.
