Hi,
I am trying to locate 2 driver door hinge pins for my 1954 (2 door Sedan) Bel air. I do not need the bushings, just 2 pins.
When I tried to order them they were back ordered.
Does anyone know a comparable NAPPA part # or some other part number that may work?
Thanks!

Thank you. I was hoping just to buy 2 pins (no bushings). I will keep looking.

If they're that hard to find you might consider buying what you can and keep the extra for spares.

I am surprised that all you need is pins. Normally things are worn enough that you need pins and bushings.
I am not aware of anyone selling just the pins.

I placed an order for pins, bushings and a few other things. At my request I was shipped what was not backordered, including the bushings. I later decided to cancel my order for the pins because they didn't know when they would be in.
Didn't realize it would be hard locating pins only.

That's the way it is on these old critters. Some parts are readily available and others are like finding that winning powerball ticket.

I agree with Tiny about finding parts for these great cars. I often tell people that I seem to spend as much or more time finding the correct parts as I do installing them. Through Chat and VCCA membership I have developed multiple sources for parts. There is no single source that will meet all your needs.
My other experience is that at least 25% of the time I have to make some type of modification to get things to fit and work correctly.
The best lesson I have learned from the experts on this forum is patience is key to enjoying this hobby. Otherwise your frustration ruins what should be fun.

I am going from an old and weak memory but when I rebuilt the hinges on my 54 truck, I had to match up the outer diameter of the pin below the knurled area under the head of the pin. I ran a drill through the hinge holes to clean up and make it "match" the bore of the pins to give desired clearance and I am almost positive that the pins were too long and you grind off the excess. The knurled part keeps pin press fit in the top. Maybe a truck hinge is different than the car as far as rebuild but maybe this info will help. Youtube has a great truck hinge rebuild video from Jerry Kassis.

Go to Restoration Specialties & Supply Inc. On page 183, there are nine different sizes of GM Door Hinge Pins.
