I can see the barrels of the cylinders behind the manifold. That makes it 1935 or earlier. 1936, while still being a 207 c.i.d, had a full length water jacket.
Hi Gene, . You got it! I stuck this in just to see how clever Chevy people are. Mr. Toyoda examined several cars around the world to garner the best ideas. German cars were too complex except the BMW which was an Austin 7 under license. I won't make any comments about British reliability at that time. The Ford had too many parts and an old flat head design. Chrysler was also a flat head but he liked the aerodynamic design of the Airflows. The Chevy engine was simple with the modern advantage of Over Head Valves. . I understand that Toyota used a copy of the 235 in the 1990s Land Cruiser. . I put this up just for fun. I hope I didn't offend anyone. Lou .
Toyota used a upgraded copy of the complete Chev engine, gearbox and rear diff in the 1960s. The only changes I know of is the oiling (pressure fed big ends) and carburettor, apart from open driveshaft I dont think there was any changes in the rest of the driveline. Tony
