Are there any tips on installing the outside chrome windshield strip over the rubber piece?

Its been 50 years since I had mine off so hope I'm correct with the following. Hard to tell exactly from your pic but if that is the metal plate with 3 or 4 threaded receivers that go through the divider rubber, I believe the stainless simply slides up or down over the metal retainer. You most likely will have to remove the metal retainer from the rubber in order to slide stainless on it. When you install the inside center garnish mldg those screws should go into the threaded receivers and pull everything together. Hope I have answered your question correctly. If not hopefully someone will jump in with the correct info.
