I recently bought a 1933 Eagle in "mothballed" condition out of an estate. In getting it running and road worthy I`ve run into a problem with a broken distributor vacumn advance. I have seen a few places where they can be rebuilt, but if possible I would like to get a new one. In some references it notes that the advance only fits `33 and `34 models while a few for sale indicate `33-`37. Is there any cross-reference available or should I just send this one out for a rebuild. Any positive suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Let's see if you have an "Eagle" or a "Master". Can you give us the date on the block and the head? Does the divider move with the window on the driver's door and the passenger door? This may be enough information to see what you have. This has nothing to do with the correct distributor advance.

Body tag on pass. floor rail says EAGLE and 5CA 01 (built in Kansas City in Jan?) and cowl plate is Job #33-559 and the divider goes up and down! Motor casting # is 836915

AL72, this is a link to the online copy of the1929-42 Chevrolet parts listing. It shows the vacuum control, part number 1847261 under group number 2.410, is the same for all 1933 and 1934 models except the 1934 Master. Be aware that a nos one's diaphragm may be hard and brittle. A rebuilt one may be the way to go. Where is Bainbridge?

You do in fact have an Eagle. If you are soaring around, drop by my nest.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed information, it was very helpful. I am torn between sending my part out and having car off the road versus chancing a NOS part and being out and about next week!

P.S. Bainbridge is in the southern tier of NY. A nice rural area with lots of low traffic back roads.

You could try the nos part and have the original rebuilt for a backup spare.

That`s my thinking;I think! This advance says it fits a #622Z distributor. My distributor # is 644B. Are they similar?

I can't give you an answer on that. Maybe Junkyard Dog can say. He knows all about distributors.

It`s running pretty good right now so I decided to order the NOS part so I can drive around locally. Spent too much time and $ to get it road worthy just to stare at it for 4 weeks! No long drives or "pushing it" until we have vacumn advance operational. Thanks for all the help as it was greatly appreciated! Al

You're welcome, and I hope everything goes well. We recommend you joining the VCCA, and would enjoy seeing some pictures of the car.
