Greetings all! Long time lurker here.

I have a 36 chevy truck that belonged to my grandparents. I was with my grandmother when we parked the truck in a barn back in 1965. This truck was used on the farm for general work and served them well until they parked it. I looked at the truck many times over the years and threatened to pull it out and get it running again. Time and finances finally aligned and tires, battery, new gas tank, seat recovering were the major investments put into the truck after I got the motor unstuck. She runs good now but unfortunately the radiator is bad and cannot be repaired.

Here is the problem. It appears the original radiator was replaced at some point in time with a 35 or 36 chevy master radiator. This radiator has a shroud around the outside of the core that (on my truck) bolts right to the radiator cowl. When I looked for a replacement to get it back original I have no idea what the original radiator would bolt to. I think the mounting hardware was removed and a extra hole was drilled in the master to allow for the mounting of the hood latch that mounts to the cowl.

Is there anyone with a picture or source of what an original mounting hardware would look like? I think the original style would still mount on the bottom as the bolts go in towards the fenders but the top mounts would go in towards the grill. I have nothing on my truck that would allow that.

I did find a master that claims to be new old stock for 499.00 on ebay but not sure if this will provide the cooling I need vs the original.

Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Chat! You came to the right place. I hope you decide to join the club and meet up with us on tours. I don't know how the connection on a 36 truck compares to my 38 car but I'm attaching an image showing the core support where the radiator mounts. On my car it simply bolts to the core support. The connection points are on the flange just in front of the fan. I'm sure someone with personal knowledge of a 36 truck will be along shortly if they're not the same.

Thanks for the reply!!
In your pic you show a "flange" or mounting surface on the left and right that a new radiator would bolt onto. My 36 truck seems to be missing that if in fact that is an added piece to the radiator shroud. The radiator installed in my truck has that mounting flange attached to the radiator the bolts run left and right not front to back if that makes sense.

Photos would help. Since you're not a club member you can't embed them in your post so you'll need to upload them to a third party hosting site then post links.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 1936 Chevy 1-1/2 ton truck in Columbia, Missouri. I also have an extra radiator (condition unknown). I don't know where you are located in Illinois, but it might be worth the trip to see my truck in person. The photos posted by Patrick (dunfire), of his GMC, accurately show the arrangement for your Chevy.
Call me any time. I will be glad to help.

Thank you, It appears that I am missing the strip of metal that the radiator connects to. It must have been removed to make room for the master radiator since it basically comes with it's own shroud/mounts attached to the radiator.
