I am trying to remove the plate that the voltage regulator is attached to. What kind of tool fits the plate screws? They are not slotted or phillips I have never seen this type before.

Clutch head, that’s what I have always called them.

That is what I call them also. They are somewhat a “security screw” design. You can install them with a slotted screwdriver but they are hard to remove without a clutch head tip.

In a pinch you can use a flat screwdriver if they're not rusted in place. If necessary clutch head drivers are still available.

Bought a clutch bit and easily got the plate behind the voltage regulator off. Next part was a little harder taking the two nuts off of the back of the speedometer but got it done and shipped the speedometer out for repair.

I just took mine off over the weekend. A screwdriver worked perfectly fine but my screws are not rusted and are in excellent shape.

I had two that would not come out with a screwdriver the clutch head bit took the two stubborn screws out with ease.
