I am replacing the door panels on my '51 and I need some help with the window cranks and door handles. The shop manual and the body manual only show the retaining plate and handle. I The handles and cranks also had springs on them when I removed them. Do these springs go behind the door panel? This would seem the logical place for me but I want to be sure before I start putting everything together.

Thanks, Pete

Yes the springs hold the door panel lightly against the handle(s). Some years use foam rubber rings to do the same thing.
