J&M worked on Saturday. Good: HA crank/cam, gears, block will take 20 over bore; P1 cam good as well. Bad: P1 crank cracked bad and cam gears worn.(scrap) Block will require sleeves as 50 over already. Put a hold on that. Pallet of P2 parts head out next week. Also the engine stamp on P2 matches the title so that will be a good thing if block not cracked. Sleeve that one. Phish
Tried to drive it but stay running it would not. Found the float sunk in the vac tank. Swapped that out and put door mirrors on it. Had to grind on them but good to go. The oil leak is at the drain plug which is rounded from years of plier use. All good. Nice day here in La. so out for some more miles. Ebay provided a vintage 6V horn. Phish
FYI, I mounted the horn in my '28 on an piece of angle iron on the firewall near the hood hinge. That left the space on the side of the firewall empty, where I eventually mounted my radiator overflow tank.
I gutted an old brass fire extinguisher, make a bracket to hold it (an old electric motor mount), and plumbed it to the overflow tube from the radiator. I don't have any direct evidence that it helps with cooling, but at least I don't make a anti-freeze mess on the ground when the engine heats up. The sheet metal shields on the exhaust manifold are to direct the air flow from the fan down and away from the overflow tank.

Yeah, my Canopy Express has the commercial cowl: a one piece affair that serves as both the firewall and dash. Then, the body was added by the Hercules Body company.
Your truck has the Chevy built cab, which has the dash inboard from the firewall.

Well while we were goofing of winning the Lemons IOE grand prize in NOLA, J&M were balancing flywheel/clutch stuff. Went from near 300 grams to ,4 grams at 4000 rpm. Should be a smooth runner. They do great work. Phish
Good question. I know they balanced the crank and were looking for rods to get weight exact. One motor was WAY out of whack. In the pics I saw, the flywheel and clutch assembly were balanced together. We still have a fully assembled running LP truck here for an assembly pattern so P1 motor will go in the CLEVERLY HILLBILLY truck first. Asked for motor to be unpainted to match the heap. When that is up and running, the HA painted motor will go in the original (by request) LP 1 ton and a new home we hope. And finally the fenders, cowl and running boards off the 3rd and final junkyard truck will be attached to a 93 Mercedes 600SEC for Lemons. KrazyPhish
Did you get the whole flywheel, pressure plate, crankshaft & crankshaft pulley balanced as one assembled unit?
Crank balanced with pulley on. Rods weighed end to end and matched. Pistons and pins weight matched. Entire clutch assembly balanced as one unit. There ya' go. We will see soon how smooth compared to the engine in it. Phish
