I have a 41 Chev with a 52/53 engine.
Would the ignition specs for my 52/53 engine be the same as listed in my 41 manual which are:
- Set Idle - to 450 - 500 rpm
- Ignition Timing - with timing light on #1 spark plug rotate distributor body until steel ball in flywheel lines up with pointer on flywheel housing.
- Gap Points - to .018” when cam follower rests on peak of cam
- Gap Spark Plugs - to .040”
Thank you. John

Should have mentioned it is a 216 engine.

My truck shop manual shows .040 for the 1948 10 mm plug gaps and .035 for the 14mm plugs for 1941 to 51. I would think that yours would be gapped at .035. The rest is the same. They usually advise setting the point gap at .022 for new points expecting some wear to occur on the block.

I should add that my manual has the supplement for 1952 and there is no change to these figures.
