I have been able to start and run the original 207 in the 35 Master I am working on. Carb rebuilt, fuel pump rebuilt, new points, condenser, NORS Electrolock coil (2), new plugs and wires, and complete new wire harness including the wire from coil (-) to distributor and Electrolock Ignition cable.

It runs very well for about 5 minutes, then starts to miss and finally stop. Cannot restart. No Spark.

I have good fuel, heat riser operates normal, compression/valves are good. Point gap at 0.018. I have tried swapping coils with no change. 6.2V to and from coil.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Failing capacitor? Maybe it fails due to heat.

I agree that the condenser is suspect.

Try these simple tests after the engine has quit running and will not restart.

Temporarily disconnect the condenser from the circuit and try to start the engine. If it starts that is a pretty good indicator of the problem.

If it still does not start pour cold water on the coil and try to start the engine.

After 5 minutes the distributor would not be hot.

If it's not the condenser it's the Coil. Had the same problem with my 35 Standard.

I don’t think it will produce much of a spark without the condenser. You should be able to remove the cap, rotate so points are open band short the points momentarily with a screw driver. That should produce a spark and an arc at the screw driver.

I would try a different coil, I have had them fail when they get hot. If it was NORS coil it could be the problem.

As it always seems, electrical issues can be something stupid simple. Bad ground was the problem.
