Even though some people frown of the term "junk yard", here are some photos from a road trip Andy & I took yesterday to an Auto Salvage Facility (aka Junk Yard.) I will post these in three groups so the" Cloud" doesn't self destruct. Please note the very rare accessory in the trunk area of the blue '58 - your very own shade tree.

In this group, there is a 1952 Bel Air with the very rare Sun Roof accessory. The thing that amazes me is how the trees just take over. The last two photos are of a 1949-50 sedan delivery. Notice how a tree grew through the open window on the passenger side. Also, how a tree grew between the body and the rear bumper.

I find it amazing how few rust holes there are in allot of the parts. Modern cars I see on the road have more rust. The again I live in the north east.


I have found that having an old car is a constant project that is never done. I think that is a good thing. Keeps me learning new things. Having two from different eras is just a form of higher education.

Unfortunately, most of these cars are buried up to their bumpers. Most wheels, backing plates and floors are toast. Twenty years ago, you probably could get doors, body panel sections and bumpers that were usable. The '51 (not '52 like I posted) was pretty rusted. I could almost lift the roof off by myself. I just find it very entertaining looking through any junkyard with cars from the 50's and 60's. Not many left.
