I recently had to adjust the vacuum shift on my 41 coupe.

I used a new adjuster I got from one of our major suppliers/vendors.

I had trouble getting the trunnion through the hole in the adjuster. I had to ream out the adjuster in order to get the a trunnion through it. I had several clean and even greased trunnions but none would go through the hole without the ream job.

Has anyone else had this problem?. This is the second adjuster "washer" I've had to ream out. (I keep losing them.)

I'm trying to find out if , over time, I merely got a couple bad ones or the problem is me or is there something wrong with the size of the adjuster hole. Don't want to blame the part and its source without trying to find out if the problem has happened to others.

I have one I bought to use on my 47, I think mine came from COT 40s. It’s been a few years ago but I don’t recall having to modify it to work.

The clevis pin is 5/16, (0.3125). The hole is suppose to be 0.313/0.314 according to the instruction sheet I have. The washer I have measures 0.313 according to my $10.00 Amazon calipers.

The older ones did work just fine. I think It's later ones that have been sold within the last few months or year or so that present the problem.

Russell the one you sent me some years ago worked just fine. Trouble is I misplaced it and had to order two of them recently (I keep loosing them ) that seem to have a less than proper size hole.

The last two I have bought have needed reaming out in order to get the trunnion through the hole. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

It appears no one has. This, of course, makes me look like I can't a simple task of putting a pin through a stinki' hole. I feel the need go hide under a rock. Go figure. Mercy!

Hang in there, Charlie! :-) I also got mine from Chevs of the 40s, it worked fine, but I probably bought it 15 years ago...
