The vacuum wiper motor on my 53 is becoming problematic. I see there's a 6 volt wiper motor for sale on TFS. Is replacing the vacuum motor with the electric all I need to do or do I have to buy the whole "kit" for $450.

That answers the question. I missed that, don't know how but I did. A bit more than I want to spend but it's what the doctor ordered. Thanks my man.

It's not like they have just a few offerings for all the years, voltages, models, and exceptions!
My only experience with this type conversion was installing a 12 volt electric motor in a '49 1/2 ton pickup. The owner missed one of the "gotcha" exceptions about fit so he had to return the first unit. It was a very tight fit even when we did get the correct unit. Plus for that installation we had to adjust the position of the posts on the motor drive wheel and make an adjustment to control the stroke.
Based on their description I do not think you will have near as much work.
