Hello,

I believe the firewall is painted body color, but on a 1940 Chev 1/2 ton PU, is the engine compartment painted black or body color?

Is the underside of the hood painted black or body color?

Thanks,

Mike

The cab was "made" and the complete exterior painted the chosen color including the firewall.....Not sure the bottom side of the cab floor. Fisher Body painted the underside with a gray primer for passenger cars but the truck cab was made by Chevrolet and not sure as to what they did.

Engine compartment inner skirts, etc. were painted black and not high gloss, same for under side of hood.

General question...

Why would GM take the time to spray the underneath black and not just spray it the body color.

My thoughts might be that they actually primed the entire hood black and then painted the body color on top.
So the paint under the hood was the black primer...

Just thinking...

Any comments?

Also,
Thanks again Gene and welcome back.
I hope all is working out well for you.

Mike
