Does anyone know where a good place to pick up a brake and clutch pedal return springs for a 1954 2 door Bel air is.

I am having a hard time locating them online. I am talking about the two sprigs under the car below the pedals that are exposed.

Thank you.

Chev of the 40’s has them also. Their clutch return spring is a universal style so you will need to bend one end to length.

Thank you. My brake light stays on sometimes, I am pretty sure that the pedal spring is weak, it looks original.

The brake light switch could need adjustment or has failed in the “On” position.

After you take your foot off the brake pedal, can you still pull the pedal up more?

The problem could be that the brake pedal is sticking and the pivot needs lubricated.

My 52 had the same problem. A new switch solved the problem.

Yes, you can pull the pedal up a little and the brake lights go out.

I did lubricate all of the pedal points.

I ordered the spring and we will see what happens. I think that is the fix. If not I will try a new switch. Thanks.

The spring will probably help. There is probably wear in the pivot bushings and dirt in there.

Check the side-to-side play in both the released and fully depressed positions. That will help determine how much wear there is.
