I ran across two distributors that i am trying to identify the years that they fit. Both look identical.
No. 1. Model # 1110008, ser # 9013. These numbers are on the point mounting plate. No plate on outside of distributor.
No. 2. Model # 1110090, ser # 6M20. These numbers are on plate on outside of distributor. No numbers on point mounting plate.
My parts book indicates the No. 1 fits 1937-39. Can't find any info on No. 2.
Thanks, Bob

No. 2 is 1941-48 ( all and maybe some later 216 engines. Using my 1929-48 part book). Best,
Charlie

1110008 is for 1938-39 and 1110090 is 1941-48.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 37 216 and was trying to confirm that the 1110008 would fit it.. Looks like there is some discrepancies between my parts book and chevy b's sources. Also, will the 1110090 fit a 62 235?
Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob
I have multiple Chevrolet parts books that confirm that 1110008 will fit 1937 to 1939... so you are good to go with that.
I only find 1110090 in earlier books and it is listed for 1941 to 1948. That distributor was originally used with the polarity reversing switch on the starter. Essentially all of these were modified later by grounding 1 of the 2 insulated terminals when the reversing switches were removed and discarded. It appears that Chev superseded 1110090 with 1112362 which had a single insulated terminal and was supplied for all 1941-48 (with the polarity reversing switch removed) and also up to 1953.
The number was changed again for 1954 (which is the newest book I have) so I going to go out on a limb here and say 1110090 will NOT fit a later 235. If I'm wrong on that, someone please correct me.
That said... I have found cases where Chev parts books clearly contradicted one another, and one of them clearly had to be just plain wrong!
PS I have a 1110090 on my 1946 truck.

Thanks Ole: I also have a '46 truck but I put a 62 235 in it so that is why I was asking about the 1110090. i suspect you are correct about it fitting the 235.

Glad to help I have what appears to be the original 216 in mine. It's been bored .040" over at some point and seems to be good. Lots of power for what I use it for. No smoke, and the plugs run clean. I just really like the peculiar sound of the starter on the old "pressure stream" engines as well as all their other little nuances!
I had the distributor out last summer and cleaned it up. Didn't need a complete disassembly, just pulled the breaker plate so I could flush out the mechanical advance etc. Bushings were still tight. New points and condensor. I had to find an NOS set of Delco points though. Tried a set of Standard brand points but the breaker arm fit was so sloppy on the pin on the breaker plate that I couldn't get a good point setting that remained constant.

Hi Ole: Thanks again. By the way this is Bob K. I just sent you pics of the '46 split rims that you inquired about,
