If this subject has been approached before just point me in the right direction. Would some one share a picture of how on a 1931, the trim strip that covers the roof nails is supposed to look like. I received an aluminum strip from Filling Station and now installed I have doubts what it is supposed to look like. Thank you

Is there someone in the northern Illinois area, say north or south of I-80 that I could look at 31 truck or car to see what the roof line is supposed to look like? Thank you.

I don't have a photo however my 32 has the 31 molding installed. Do you have the Filling Station part number? On mine which came from a Buick supplier it was made so that the screws were installed thru the center of the molding strip and then an extension or flap that was part of the molding was hammered down over the center screw channel.

Steve- I used an aluminum piece that was recommended, after hammering a bit I thought this is going to make this look like I am trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Id put up a picture but do not know how to do that on this site. Gary

I did not do the installation of mine but I did have the process explained to me. Hopefully you used a block of wood to fold over the "lip". Maybe someone that has actually installed a fabric roof and molding will chime in. If you send me your Email address in a PM I might be able to send you a phone number and Email address of someone that has done a few installations.

The trucks use a different strip than the passenger cars. It is a hide'em welting to cover the nails and give them some weather resistance.

I found another source of a trim piece and ordered a couple of pieces, this has a half round piece of metal that folds over the top of the screws. This is what I know I took off of my parts truck.
