I need to re-attach the trim to my 1941 Chevy Master Deluxe. Is this attached with metal to metal contact and only the clips being used to hold it on? Should there be a gadget or some type of backing?

Would it be better to apply it with tape as is done on modern cars. This is a father / son drive for ice cream etc. fun car not a show car.

When I took it off there was so much surface rust it had to be pried of in areas so I never saw how it should have been done.

I have found that having an old car is a constant project that is never done. I think that is a good thing. Keeps me learning new things. Having two from different eras is just a form of higher education.

Thanks for the update on that. Was looking at how there was a rubber piece for all the lights and ornamental fender pieces and started to wonder what else I needed.

Various sections of the belt line molding originally had stamped steel retainers fastened to the body with sheet metal screws to which the molding snapped on to. These areas can be identified by small diameter holes in the body sheet metal rather than larger diameter holes which a molding clip would push in to or fastened with a nut from the back side. An example is the short section of the cowl molding and portions of the quarter panel. These retainer strips are usually missing or deteriorated beyond use. If you have them, or can find them, the results are much better than aftermarket fasteners. Mike

Yes, I do have the various sized clips for the 41 stainless, and used the correct ones on my 41. With a little careful research I have found the clips on ebay and a few parts dealers.

Thanks, Mike

Mike,

I’m looking for some clips for my 1940 Chevy PU 1/2 ton.

Do you have any clips that you are selling?

What sizes would I need for this truck.

Thanks,

Mike
