Dave ...thanks but I was looking for the whole rear end to set it up with Larry Jackson 3.55 gears...I did not want to chance the set up with my only rear end. The Gears I have available are the older generation needing riveting to the carrier.

I believe you should be able to bolt the new gears to the carrier with grade 8 fine thread bolts.

The newer generation Larry Jackson gears were threaded to be bolted on. The older run of gears needed to be riveted. I have seen both sets side by side. Tblack

Tblack I believe you put the bolts right through then put lock nuts on. Many stock rings become loose and the rivets are simply drilled out then through bolted with nuts. The threaded gears just save you from using longer bolts and nuts.

Not much clearance between where a nut would finish off and the edge of the carrier itself. Has any chevy owner out there actually done this? I remember on the old buicks the nuts holding on the rear brake drums were tightened and then soldered. Also the 4 bolts holding the carrier together on the chevy are tighted and then safety wired between each of the 4 bolts (Not the 4 carrier cap bolts). If I remember the Ford Model T ring gear was bolted and the nuts were safety wired as well. Ive seen that strategy on the internet with Franklin rear ends. Love to hear any and all practical suggestions including any leads on who might be able re-rivit
Unless I,m able to pick up a used 31 chevy rear end to refit I will probably pass on buying the Larry Jackson Gears.

can you bolt the gear to the carrier with the assembly out of the housing? That way you could put the bolt heads towards the housing. They are not as thick as a nut.
