Chevron Delo EP NLGI 00 Semi-Fluid Grease for vintage steering gearboxes. $24 per 1.875 pound container (approximately 1 quart), plus shipping.
Alternate packaging in new grease gun cartridges also available on request. $13 per standard 14 oz. cartridge, plus shipping.
This is a superior, synthetic semi-fluid (self-leveling) grease for all vintage steering gear applications. Its specs exceed that of the commonly used Champion “00” and Penrite Semi-Fluid Steering Gear Fluid from Australia (which surprisingly at manufacturer stated 18 pounds, doesn’t meet EP minimum standard of 40 pounds for Timken OK Load test, per ASTM D 2509). The base oil viscosity is equivalent to 90 weight gear oil, which was the original spec for many GM steering gearboxes. It will flow better than the commonly used John Deere “Cornhead” grease, which is NLGI 0 rated. It should not leak as does 90 weight gear oil from vintage steering gearboxes in normal condition and operation.
Since it is available from Chevron in a minimum 35 pound (5 gallon) pail, this is excess material well over and above my needs, recently acquired and repackaged in my shop in fluorinated HDPE quart containers which are suitable for long-term storage of oil and grease products. Each container is sealed and labeled with the Chevron Smart-fill labeling system code for Delo EP 00 grease. Limited supply, currently at 12 1-quart containers (1.875 pounds net weight).
You will receive a copy of the Chevron Product Data Sheet (PDS) and MSDS in the shipment. Send a PM for more details!

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
chevy1937, thanks. Yes, I'm very familiar with the J-D Cornhead grease. This Delo EP 00 is a grade thinner (JD Cornhead grease is NLGI 0), so will flow a bit better. I can't compare to the more important J-D specs (base oil viscosity, wear ratings and so on), since they aren't published that I have found. Personal choice, but I prefer the Delo EP 00 since I have the full specs from Chevron.
I can package in new 14 oz grease gun cartridges rather than quart containers, if anyone should want that. Price would be $13 per cartridge plus shipping.

Update: I still have a bit of the Chevron Delo EP 00 semi-fluid grease available - quart-size container or standard 14 oz grease gun cartridge - for anyone who might like to try it for steering gearbox use. Its characteristics are very similar to the NLA GM steering gearbox grease. There is more information in the first post of this thread.
$24 per 1.875 pound container (approximately 1 quart), plus shipping, or
$13 per standard 14 oz. cartridge, plus shipping.
Shipping usually runs $9-11 for up to 4 standard 14oz grease cartridges or 2 quart-sized (1.875lb) jugs.
PM if interested in more info.
